Dr. Manisha Gogri (M.B.B.S., C.B.E., I.B.C.L.C.)                       
Childbirth Educator and Lactation Consultant
 
Dr. Manisha Gogri acquired her medical degree (M.B.B.S.) from the prestigious Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai in 1998.

After the birth of her first son in the year 2000, she realised the need for childbirth education, pregnancy and labour support, which was somehow missing in the medical care provided to pregnant couples. This was a turning point in her medical career and she decided to take the untrodden path. She studied to become a certified childbirth educator and trained with Childbirth International to get her Diploma in CBE.

Realising the importance of fitness in pregnancy and childbirth, she trained with Moms in Motion, Sara’s City Workout (Chicago) to become a certified Pre & Post natal fitness instructor. She then designed her unique pregnancy program called FIT FOR BIRTH, and started classes for couples in Mulund, Ghatkopar and Thane in 2002, at a time when no such program existed in these parts of the city. More than 2000 couples (which include Medical professionals) have so far benefited from her classes.

After the birth of her second son in 2005, Dr. Manisha became associated with Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India (BPNI Maharashtra) and worked with them to be accredited as a mother support group counsellor, and subsequently a trainer. With BPNI she has had the opportunity to provide training in basic lactation management to Doctors, Medical students, nursing staff, as well as grass root level IYCN training to Anganwadi Health Workers (ICDS) and aspiring mother support group leaders.

When La Leche League-the largest International mother support group for Breastfeeding was revived in India- Dr. Manisha was accredited as a leader for LLL in 2008 and has since then been conducting free monthly meetings for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers to provide information and support.

Dr. Manisha’s constant quest for knowledge and excellence lead her to study for the highest examination in the field of lactation. She became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2009.

Presently, she continues to teach her antenatal and post natal program, provides breastfeeding information and support in hospitals, and also consults privately for lactation problems. She has been recently appointed as faculty by CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association) for their Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) program.

Dr. Manisha is a Member of Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM), International Lactation Consultants Association (ILCA), LAMAZE International and Childbirth and Post Partum Professionals Association (CAPPA)
